Let's swallow fireflies and shine from the inside.

We'll light up the night
We'll be earthly fireworks
We'll jump and twirl and dance and fall
We'll run run run
Until we have no breath, no words, no songs
Just a pulsing light against the stars
We'll pretend that the sun is not coming up
We'll pretend that the night last forever
We will glow glow glow
Until time stops
Until the stars fall out of the sky

Let's swallow  fireflies and shine from the inside.


1.
For my lover in the sky,

This house is grounded.
It creeks and it moans,
It twists and twitches,
but it stays put.
It is rooted in the ground, deep down in the dark wet dirt.
It will not move and I cannot go.
I will stay here, within these walls,
of rocks and wood and trees and mud.

I am earthbound.

I look at the sky, I long for the stars,
but I cannot fly.

I will stay put, in this house, and
pray that one day maybe,
A twister will come and carry this house away.
I would then fly, like Dorothy did,
among the clouds and the skies.
I would reach the place where the horizon dies.
I would fly to you and pluck you out of the space so,
we can fall back to Earth.
A shower of gold dust, back
To this house that twitches and moans

And then I would kiss you, and kiss you, and kiss you.
